David Morris Having spent all of my working life in the local area, and speaking to business owners every day, I hope I have an understanding of the concerns affecting us all. My primary role in the BCTC is to support our Chair, Emma Hamilton Cole, and build upon the excellent foundations that we have been passed by our predecessors. Broadstone is a lovely environment in which to live and work, and the Chamber wants to keep the best bits of what we already have, and constantly improve. I will continue to edit the quarterly BCTC newsletter, which provides news and information about the successes of our membership, including interviews and photographs with local business celebrities. |

Emma Hamilton Cole As newly elected Chair of the Broadstone Chamber of Trade I am already being asked to attend a variety of events and meetings concerning the local business community. I have worked in Broadstone for some eight years now, at Coles Miller Solicitors in Station Approach. I have attended the Chamber of Trade during that time and have seen enormous changes. The Chamber has increased from only a couple of dozen members to the 70 - 80 we have today. |

Increasingly those involved in business in our local community look to meet together for mutual support and to share views and gain information. In my role as Chair I see my main responsibility as providing a contact point for those businesses, ensuring that they are able to become involved in our network and bringing together and representing those views to wider business communities and in other areas. Some issues affecting business are perennial – parking and business rates to name a couple. Diversity of our high street is also a key area of concern. I hope that in the year ahead our local membership will continue to grow and the Chamber continues to flourish. I would welcome enquiries from any business thinking of joining the organisation and of course with views and requests from any existing members, as well as residents' representatives. The support we receive from the local community using our businesses is key and I hope that we can continue to work together for the benefit of everyone." |
