George Hattemore

I came to Dorset from Chichester with my wife in 1970. We purchased Midgleys Shoe Shop in September 1970, re-naming it G J Footwear.

I became secretary of Broadstone Chamber of Trade in 1971. For many years I represented the Chamber of Trade on the Poole Crime Prevention Panel, and at the business meetings with the Borough of Poole. I was also a board member of the National Chamber of Trade, attending meetings in London and the National Conferences.

Over the years I have maintained strong links with the Chamber of Trade, holding the positions of Chairman, President, Secretary and assistant Treasurer. Although I ceased trading in Broadstone in November 2003, I am still involved with the Chamber of Trade and Commerce as a life member.

I am also the Chairman of Broadstone Age Concern Day Centre, which is partly funded from the charity shop in Dunyeats Road.

This is the website of Broadstone Chamber of Trade and Commerce (BCTC). We are a thriving and expanding organisation, representing the interests of more than 50 businesses in the Broadstone area. Some sections of the website are open to the public, whereas others are for Members only. That means that Members will need to log in with their user name and password to access those sections. You can log in via the Login Form on the home page of the website. We welcome contributions from all Members of the Chamber, so if you have any feedback, comments, news or other input you would like to share with us, please email us in the first instance at info@broadstone.biz. We look forward to hearing from you!
